This week on a more peaceful podcast, Kenzie and Zach take a look back and share the experiences of their first concerts. Kenzie shares the album "Middle of Nowhere" by Hanson while Zach shares "The Second Stage Turbine Blade" by Coheed and Cambria.
HO! HO! HO! MERRY CHRISTMAS!
It's that time of year when no matter how hard you try, you can't escape all the songs of Santa and good cheer. We all know that most of these songs are annoying, but maybe my favorite Christmas songs will help you change your playlist up before you blow your brains out. At the very least, you like these songs to some degree too. SO BEGINS THE LIST!: Middle Of The Road: A Review Of A Mixtape My DAd Made Years Ago (Featuring Music I Use To Listen To)10/8/2014 Remember burning CDs? Before the age of the iPod or the Pandora's and the Spotify's, we use to all burn mixtapes onto CDs and played them in CD players. My dad was no different, having on occasion burned his own playlists, often times using music that I was into at the time. I think that was his point, he really only liked a few songs here and there that I was into, much like him only liking a few things about me *holds back tears*.
Anyways, just last week I stumbled upon an old CD mixtape in my car entitled Middle of the Road. I quickly realized it was one of my dad's from when I was in junior high. I gave it a listen and I was punched in the face with nostalgia, reinvigorated intrigue, regret, and just plain disgust over the music I use to listen to. My palette today is much different, though it was interesting to see what music I still dig now, and what I can't stand, and I thought it would be fun to review this playlist so you can perhaps go through the same internal adventure of rediscovery as I did. By the way, I had no clue then, and I definitely have no clue now, why my dad named the CD Middle of the Road. The title sounds smarter than it deserves. Follow me back to around twelve years ago to the early/mid 2000s, where the world was a much different place. Because the last installment came so late, once again you all get back-to-back Box Office Bombs installments. This week we talked the film adaptation of Jersey Boys, and we learned, even if the film sucks, the music can still be good. This week my favorite band of all time, Coheed and Cambria announced a tour of their album In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3. In Keeping Secrets was the second full studio album released by the group and it was the album that I believe really put them on the map. It feels just like yesterday....
